IIR - Butyl rubber
Butyl rubber (IIR) is a synthetic elastomer characterised by its exceptional gas and water tightness. The material is well known for its low gas permeability and high chemical resistance, which makes it ideal for applications where safety and reliability are crucial.
Despite its many advantages, butyl rubber has limited resistance to heat, oil and UV radiation, which can affect its performance over time.
Butyl rubber is used extensively in the manufacture of hoses and diaphragms for industrial applications such as in vehicle tyres, chemical piping systems and medical gloves, where its ability to prevent gas and liquid penetration is of great importance.
