AEM - Acrylic food grade rubber

Ethylene-acrylic rubber (AEM), also known as ethylene-acrylic rubber, is a synthetic elastomer produced by copolymerisation of ethylene and acrylic esters. The material is characterised by its excellent oil and weather resistance, making it particularly suitable for applications requiring good chemical resistance and low permeability to liquids and gases.

However, AEM has some limitations in terms of mechanical strength compared to other elastomers such as nitrile rubber or hydrogenated nitrile rubber (HNBR). In addition, its cost can be higher than that of some other synthetic elastomers.

Ethylene acrylic rubber is mainly used in the automotive industry for seals, gaskets and hoses in engines and transmission applications where high chemical resistance and good performance under varying temperature conditions are essential.

It is also used in industrial applications where reliable sealing and resistance to oils and liquids are important requirements.
